Moonis Elahi berates Sharifs over ‘deception in politics’
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former federal minister Moonis Elahi said on Saturday that Sharifs [Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif] always deceived Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) in politics.
Speaking to a television channel, he said he convinced his father Punjab chief minister Pervez Elahi to strike alliance with Imran Khan adding the sons of PML-Q president Ch Shujaat Hussain misguided their father. “Mr Elahi and Mr Husain used to tell me that Sharifs always deceived them politically”, he added.
He said PTI leaders Aleem Khan and Jehangir Tareen barred the PML-Q from contesting elections in many constituencies in 2018 general elections saying those were PTI s seats. "I was advised to contest for by-elections", he added. He alleged that when he raised this issue, Mr Aleem and Mr Jehangir influenced the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to issue him notices.
Taking a dig at former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shehbaz, he said Mr Hamza did nothing but visual politics during his tenure adding he ruined the province’s master plan formulated by his predecessor Usman Buzdar.
